No Mow May

A patch of lawn which we’ve mowed all summer for the last 15 years was left to grow long this May. A group of Pyramidal Orchids came up, so now we won’t mow until after August. These Orchids cannot easily be propagated by seed alone, they rely on a vital symbiotic relationship with mycorrhizal fungi in the soil to germinate and grow.
