Devon bat survey 28th - 31st May 2025

We were excited to borrow the bat detector from the Braunton Countryside Centre again this year and find out who we’ve been seeing in the evenings. Due to the variety of habitats near us and our proximity to large roosts we detected a large number of species foraging along our hedge on Burrows Close Lane:

Barbastelle, Brandt’s Bat, Common Pipistrelle, Daubentons Bat, Greater Horseshoe, Grey Long Eared Bat, Leisler’s Bat, Lesser Horseshoe, Natterer’s Bat, Noctule, Serotine, Soprano Pipistrelle, Whiskered Bat.

Last year we took part in August and we also picked up a lot of crickets. 9 species in total!
